I saw this today with my son and we both had some chills and gotcha moments. If you are young and have never seen the Exorcist or Amityville Horror or any of the other classics then this film will pack more of a punch for you. For us older, more jaded viewers, it was fairly standard fare but I like how the writers keep mixing up the cliches and conventions to try to come up with new thrills for some of us oldsters. Well acted and well produced. Just the right length. Good Saturday afternoon movie.

Definitely not as scary as I thought it was going to be, but it was definitely worth it. The suspense had me feeling alive! Great horror film, loved the classic horror feel that they incorporated into the movie. This is not a movie for the wussies.

First off, The Conjuring is not a gore fest. It's a full on "wait for it... wait for it..." creep show. The Conjuring creates tension so thick, you might have to remind yourself to breathe. It's one of the very few modern scary movies that relies on old fashioned storytelling while not abusing CGI and a ton of blood and guts. The movie is well acted and well directed. There are a couple of small cheesy moments , but over all the plot was well fleshed out. The cinematography captures the creep factor extremely well. The sound effects layered on top are the icing on the cake! If you like scary movies that don't rely heavily on CGI and gore to get your blood pumping, check this one out. If you bring someone that doesn't like to be scared, they may hate you for the rest of their life. This is the must see scary movie of the year!! I will admit I am jaded when it comes to scary movies and it takes a lot to scare me. However this movie did just that. I was actually scared. At one point thought about leaving the theater cause I was so scared. Thought about closing my eyes but didn't because I did not want to miss a thing! I loved this movie and would recommend it to everyone I know and those I do not. Again a must see scary movie of the year!!!

At four separate times throughout the movie I started laughing. These laughs weren't that of one of those annoying frat boys who are laughing because "this movie is so stupid bro", but I found myself so scared and invested in the movie that I chuckled at myself when I finally realized what I was doing. Lily Taylor's performance is a must-see as well.
